The Basic Search

To find what you're looking for, enter one or more words into the box and press the Enter key. You don't need to use commas or any other punctuation. Our site will show you a list of relevant results.

Titan Books uses sophisticated text-matching techniques to find you the most appropriate and important pages. We list our results in order of how relevant they are to the search term you provided.

Spelling

If you enter a spelling mistake, our spell checker will offer you the best alternative.

For example, if you have typed "Cptain Kirk," we will suggest "Captain Kirk"!

Does Capitalization Matter?

Our search does not differentiate between capital and small letters. All letters, regardless of how you enter them, are understood as lower case.

For example, searches for "mister spock," "Mister spock," and "Mister Spock" will all return the same results.

Synonyms

Synonyms are words that have the same or similar meanings. Our site will display them under the heading "Did you mean...?" on the results page.

For example, if you enter the words “Dr. Who” or “Who”, our site will direct you to both “Doctor Who” and “Torchwood”.

Refining Your Search

If you want to browse though our latest Stargate stock, you need only enter the word “Stargate” into the Search box. Our site will bring up everything we have to offer – allowing you to look through it at your leisure.

If you’re looking for something more specific, enter more words. You can also click the 'Advanced Search' button at the top of the screen to see more fields to refine your search. Each time your search terms will be remembered you can try different combinations to find what you want.

If you enter more than one word, the search will seek out items that have ALL of the words you have entered. Please select your words carefully!

Automatic "and" Queries

The Titan Books search does not recognise the word “and”; there is no need to include it between your search terms.

For example, if you want to search for “Batman and Robin”, simply enter “Batman Robin”.

Our search will return all the items that include BOTH words.

"or" search

If you would like results that contain EITHER Batman OR Robin, then you should add the word OR in upper case. This is called the “Logical OR Operator”.

For example, if you’d like to search for all items relating to “Alien” or “Predator”, then enter the following: Alien OR Predator

Our search will return all the items that include EITHER of the words.

Does Titan Books Use Stemming

Stemming” means only using the beginning of a word in the Search box. To provide the most accurate results, Titan Books does not use "stemming" or "wildcard" searches. Titan Books searches instead for exactly the words entered by you.

For example, if you enter “Pred”, our Search will not find “Predator”. You should enter the entire word.

Excluding Words

f you want to exclude a certain word from your Search, you can do so by putting a minus sign directly before it (unless using the Advanced Search Form, which does this automatically for you). Make sure you include a space both before and after the sign.

For example, if you are looking for “Transformers” items but wish to exclude the “Star Wars” range, type in:

Phrase Searches

You can search for phrases by adding quotation marks "like this" (unless using the Advanced Search Form, which does this automatically for you). This means that our Search will read the phrase as a single word and it will instantly refine your results.

For example, including quotations marks around the phrase “Star Wars” means that your results will not include product containing the words “Star” and “Wars” such as “Star Trek”, “Robot Wars” and “Secret Wars”.
